| Schoep died in 2013 at age 20 |
Here, a 19-year-old German shepherd is being being cradled in his companion's arms in Lake Superior. The dog, Schoep, has arthritis and has trouble sleeping. Schoep's "father" takes him to the lake at night where he falls asleep as the water soothes his arthritic bones.
