Consciousness is like water. Unless frozen by fixation, it slips effortlessly into the forms of the things that surround it. At its best, it is at its calmest, disinterested and unrippled, a clear lake carrying the sun's rays to all that is within its reach.
And even in cliches, desire is said to be like fire. So the conflict is inevitable and built in.
