The Modern Media Miasma of Misinformation

MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough, like the other right-awing talking heads, is accustomed to peddling bullshit propaganda. He's just not accustomed to getting called on it.

Comparing Obama's response to Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 to Reagan's reaction to KAL Flight 007, shot down by the USSR in 1983, Scarborough repeatedly insisted that “[Reagan] immediately canceled his vacation.”

If Mika Brzezinski had not INSISTED on correcting Scarborough with the facts, Scarborough would have gotten away with rewriting history yet again, pushing the mass audience a little deeper into the corporate media miasma of misinformation.

And this is the “liberal” corporate news media channel, remember? The one that peddles lies to kiss Reagan's ancient ass.

"Todd:" A Term That Translates as "The Death of Journalism"

Every time I hear that smug conventional-wisdom propagandist Chuck Todd, I am reminded that “tod” means “death” in German, and that his kind of agenda-driven, amoral-horse-race, fatally compromised corporate news media crap is the death of American journalism.

“There is not a single bit of 'shared sacrifice' that is going to fall too heavily on Willard Romney,” Charlie Pierce wrote. “There is not a bit of 'shared sacrifice' that is going to fall too heavily on David Gregory, either, or on Jon Meacham, or Andrea Mitchell, or Sean Hannity, or my man Chuck Todd. In the way we fight our wars, and in the way we conduct our politics, and in the way we run our economy, and in the way we function as a political commonwealth, we are now at the mercy of people who propose and enact policies for the rest of us under which they never will have to abide. Our elites are now a universe of chickenhawks and every issue out there is Vietnam.”

"Both Sides Do It" Is Just a Smoke Screen to Cover for the Liars

The difference is that Fox News LIES about FACTS, and that is a VAST difference. 
Fox News’ fans have little to say about this, except to bark that “all news organizations lie” and immediately turn tail when you demand that they prove it. 
To make that intellectually dishonest claim without any evidence is merely a way of letting the actual, documented liars at Fox News off the hook. And that’s their intention.
Fox News displays this open contempt for facts because it is a right-wing authoritarian propaganda machine, and I mean that literally. 
Fox News does not practice journalism. It SUBVERTS journalism. It is the Fourth Estate's Fifth Column. And you can always find Fox News by following the trail of slain messengers who tried to tell somebody the truth. And yes, the Big Lie works.
