Sumptuous This, Elegant That

I walked in on an episode of “Beautiful Homes and Great Estates,” with the female narrator cooing that this house “redefines the meaning of luxury.”

Oh, really? In what way? Looks like the same old overblown, faintly obscene conspicuous consumption to me.

She purrs “sumptuous” this and “elegant” that, $10 million here and $50 million there. Where, exactly, do they find people to write copy this insipid for their “hump the leg of the rich” shows?
