In America, the opinion of one single ignoramus doesn't matter (unless he or she happens to be a blubbery talk radio host or a half-witted, half-term governor who deserted her public trust).
However, for some reason, the opinion of 10,000 such ignoramuses is regarded as the 
unchallenged voice of God.
