Not Born Yesterday

World's Finest Comics 70 from June 1954
The month I was born, the gay World War II hero and genius Alan Turing was driven to suicide by the British establishment, the Pledge of Allegiance suffered the admixture addition of the words “under God,” the CIA triggered a bloody 35-year civil war by engineering a military coup in Guatemala, and Joseph Welch chastised and finished the fascist Sen. Joe McCarthy with the immortal words, “Let us not assassinate this lad further, Senator. You’ve done enough. Have you no sense of decency, sir? At long last, have you left no sense of decency?”
In other words, I wasn’t born yesterday.
