Mad as a Hatter at a Tea Party

By Dan Hagen
They have been told they can return to a state of affairs that never existed, a time when kindly, unregulated, untaxed corporations generously looked out for their employees, when no one needed health care, when black people and women were happy to stay in their places, when gay people didn't exist, when ordinary Americans regularly became billionaires by climbing up their own bootstraps and when Jesus ruled America. Little House on the Prairie meets Hopalong Cassidy meets Atlas Shrugged.
Because that puerile fantasy can never, ever happen, and because they think they will never, ever need to learn anything more than they already know, they stay perpetually frustrated and as hopping mad as a hatter at a tea party.
